This tool does not account for the IRS domestic content bonus credit requirement that all structural steel and iron used in a project must be produced in the United States (as defined under IRS Notice 2025-08 and Section 45(b)(9) of the Internal Revenue Code). Eligibility for the domestic content bonus credit is contingent on satisfying both the manufactured products threshold calculated here and the steel/iron requirement. Projects should independently verify compliance with all applicable IRS requirements before claiming the bonus credit.

Glossary
Domestic Lite Module: Modules made with some U.S. components, but not U.S. cells. Used strategically with other domestic equipment to meet the Domestic Content bonus threshold.
Domestic Cell Module: Modules with U.S.-made cells and some U.S. assembly. Carry a higher cost premium but contribute the maximum possible DC points. Typically used when inverter and racking contributions alone can’t close the gap to the bonus threshold.
